Shakes-Beer Festival
- This event has passed.
Celebrate the joy of the works of Shakespeare at Pequot Library’s Shakes-Beer Festival. Join area breweries to raise a glass to the Bard of Avon and sample delicious local light bites. Entertainment will be provided throughout the duration of the event. Tickets are $75 and include three drink tickets as well as food provided by Super Duper Weenie.
Music will be provided by Richard Pitssinger, a Juilliard-trained opera singer who has received positive reviews from the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, as well as Gwendolyn Toth, the artistic director of New York City’s ARTEK, who is recognized as one of the nation’s leading early music performers. “Her interpretive skills are sensitive and intelligent, and she clearly has a gift for program conceptualization.” (New York Times)
Pitssinger and Toth will perform selections from William Byrd, Thomas Morley, John Dowland, and Robert Johnson, contemporaries of William Shakespeare who will set the stage for an afternoon of Elizabethan reverie.
Eager to keep the party going? After the festival, head down to Southport’s favorite watering hole, the Horseshoe Cafe, and receive happy hour pricing on Two Roads beer with the presentation of a Shakes-BEER wristband.
This event is co-sponsored by Athletic Brewing Company and Two Roads Brewing Company. Other breweries include Reverie Brewing Co. and Tribus Beer Co.
