Summer Book Sale
One of the largest book sales in New England, our Summer Book Sale draws book lovers from near and far with a selection of over 100,000 items in over 50 categories. The five-day sale is held in large tents on the Great Lawn and parking lot and in the Auditorium and Reading Room of the Library.
Admission is free. All Sale proceeds support Pequot Library.

BOOK SALE HOURS
Friday (July 21): 9am – 6pm
Saturday /Sunday / Monday (July 22-24): 9am – 5pm
Tuesday (July 25): 9am – 2 pm
This year we are proud to offer an exceptionally wide range of rare and collectible books. Highlights include:
– The first English-language printing of Crime and Punishment (1886), of which there are only 9 (yes, only 9) known copies worldwide.
– A large assortment of works on Architecture and City Planning dated from the 18th Century to the present.
– 2 original engravings from the 16th-century engraver and printmaker, Henry Goltzius.
– 15 First Editions of James Bond novels.
– Dozens of works by and about Frank Lloyd Wright affordably priced.
Advance sales of our rarest items begins online on July 16. You can preview the catalogs of items or purchase items online.
And of course, we have thousands of children’s books, priced at $4 or less, thousands of mysteries, spy thrillers, romance, and other works fiction similarly priced. We offer hundreds of books on photography, including brand new, giftable coffee table books by local resident and acclaimed photographer, Phil Trager. And there are thousands of DVDs and CDs all priced at $3 or less.

Special Events are a vital component of Pequot Library’s fundraising efforts, helping the Library to raise about 80% of its annual operating costs. Each fundraising event – from galas to book sales – is an opportunity to engage and serve the community, as well as fund the books, services, programs, and exhibitions offered for free at Pequot Library throughout the year.

Book Sales
There is no admission charge for the sales, and all proceeds support our lending library services, our robust roster of programs and events, our Special Collections exhibitions, and our School Outreach tours. Books and media are generously donated year-round in the Shed off the Library parking lot.

Black Friday/Saturday Book Sale
Forgo the crowds the days after Thanksgiving and browse new items and gently used materials that are purposefully displayed at this sale with gift-giving in mind.

Midwinter Book Sale
Come in from the cold and browse for books in a cozy, intimate environment. Our February sale features fiction/classics, mystery, biography, history, cookbooks, LPs, children’s books, CDs/DVDs, signed books, and yearly specials.

Derby Day
Derby Day features a celebration of the “Run for the Roses” with tailgating on the Great Lawn, followed by a live viewing of the race on the big screen in the Auditorium.

Art Show
The Art Show highlights art from the community with a weeklong display of paintings, photography, and 3D works in the Auditorium, along with a Gala, artist party, and workshops and lectures for kids and adults.
