Do you know that feeling of opening up a new book written by one of your favorite authors? Wondering what lies in those pages gives us a feeling of excited anticipation. We can hardly wait to dive into those first pages, sometimes reconnecting with familiar characters, exotic locations, or the voice of an author that we already know and love. A similar sense of anticipation is reverberating through Pequot Library as we open our doors wider, welcoming back patrons and embracing a rhythm that is equal parts familiar and new normal. We are excited and hope you are too.
We could not have arrived at this point without our Library supporters through the difficulties of the past year. Your loyalty and generosity have enabled us to continue to serve the community against all odds. We were able to pivot our programs by creating online activities and adapted to safely offer library services through curbside pickup. We have had authors talks, children’s reading hours, an art auction, and even two small book sales.
As we embrace our new phases of opening and normalcy, we hope you will support our fiscal year end campaign. Community support pulled us through one of the most challenging years on record. Community support is going to poise us for the robust reopening that will keep Pequot Library strong for years to come.
