History of the Colonies and the States they Became:

This section of Pequot Library’s Special Collections is one of the best. While state historical societies throughout New England have more about the specific state they represent, very few collections cover the history of all the colonies in such a comprehensive way. This is one of the fullest, most complete records of New England History in existence and, as in each of the other categories in the Special Collections, the selection of materials is impeccable. These materials range from the early exploration of the new world by a host of nations, through the history of the original colonies, up to the period after the founding of the Library. These histories extend from the colonies’ founding through the 19th century. They include detailed records of the history of many of the towns within each colony along with invaluable genealogical material.
