Interested in becoming a volunteer docent at Pequot Library? Join staff members and current volunteers to learn more about the variety of options available. Docents are trained to lead small groups of school-aged children and/or adults on walking tours of Pequot Library, historic Southport, and its rotating schedule of temporary on-site Special Collections exhibitions and installations. Docents engage visitors of all ages through interactive tours and often include a related hands-on learning experience.
Since 2014, Pequot Library has welcomed nearly 6,000 K-12 school students for guided tours and programs. Docents are critical to the success of the library’s school programs. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Docents will receive special invitations and opportunities to access the library’s collections, librarians and staff, and special guest speakers throughout the year. Docents will be invited to special exhibitions tours and related programming, have prioritized registration at public programs, enjoy occasional local field trips, and participate in continuing education opportunities, all at no cost. Docents will receive invitations to the Summer Book Sale Preview Party in July and the Volunteer Appreciation Party in November.
