Join New York Times bestselling author Adam Hochschild as he streams into Pequot Library from sunny Berkeley, California. Hochschild wrote King Leopold’s Ghost: A Story of Greed, Terror and Heroism in Colonial Africa, a critically acclaimed text examining the atrocities of Belgian Congo. King Leopold’s Ghost won the prestigious Mark Lynton History Prize. Adult Programs Manager Charlie McMahon will be moderating this conversation, as well as interviewing Hochschild about his historical methodology and his familial connection to Pequot Library’s founding family, the Marquands.
