Waste Not: Preservation at Play
On view June 20 – September 21, 2024
Inspired by recycling initiatives, Waste Not examines the ways that book creators and owners have reused materials available to them, made their own “folk repairs,” used books to preserve botanial specimens, or otherwise given new purpose to books. Explore a diverse selection of Special Collections books dating back to 1570, while considering the value of reuse and preservation of resources in a culture built on disposability.

Learn more about Summer Book Sale eventsServe the Community
Special Events are a vital component of Pequot Library’s fundraising efforts, helping the Library to raise about 80% of its annual operating costs. Each fundraising event – from galas to book sales – is an opportunity to engage and serve the community, as well as fund the books, services, programs, and exhibitions offered for free at Pequot Library throughout the year.
Book Sales
There is no admission charge for the sales, and all proceeds support our lending library services, our robust roster of programs and events, our Special Collections exhibitions, and our School Outreach tours. Books and media are generously donated year-round in the Shed off the Library parking lot.
