Jack Caserta is a 20-year old Fairfield native and emerging new artist. Spanning styles, he has developed a “pluralistic practice” devoted to both figurative and symbol-laden abstract work. His paintings mix mediums of oil and acrylic using multiple layers of color and coarse brushwork that explore how a line, stroke, or mass of bold color can evoke raw feelings. His process is instinctive, organic, and honors experimentation. Various influences have shaped Caserta’s style, most notably those of urban culture and modern masters. His paintings of surreal “metaphysical” characters examine the relationship between mind and matter, while his female figures are a study in shape and seen through a lens of vibrant colors. Jack’s “Females” was awarded top honors at the Pequot Library’s 2018 WET PAINT art show, gaining him a solo exhibition.
