March 7 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Students ages 7 to 17 from Westport, Weston, Fairfield, and surrounding communities will perform duets and trios including six hands at one piano, vocal, flute, violin, viola, cello, and bass duos with piano, and trios with combinations of strings, flutes, and piano. The performance will end with a jazz ensemble comprised of Westport School of Music faculty pianist Alan Simon and bassist Andrew Muench, along with a guest drummer and several Westport School of Music students.
“Participation in the Student Chamber Music Concert is one of the most unique and rewarding opportunities a student will have at the Westport School of Music,” said Westport School of Music Director Sarah Miller. “Rehearsing and performing together in an ensemble teaches a young musician all about teamwork, individual responsibility, sensitivity, and cooperation. Each ensemble also has the advantage of receiving coaching from other faculty members beyond a student’s regular weekly instructor and is a wonderful opportunity for parents and extended family to hear their child play with a group after working so diligently with other students. ”
The concert is free of charge and open to the public, and a reception to greet the performers will follow the concert.
