Summer Book Sale


Welcome to Pequot Library’s 64th Annual Summer Book Sale!
One of the largest book sales in New England, the Summer Book Sale draws book lovers from near and far with a selection of over 100,000 items in over 45 categories. The five-day sale is held in large tents on the Great Lawn and parking lot and in the auditorium and Reading Room.
Admission is free. All proceeds support Pequot Library’s books, services, programs, and exhibitions for adults and children, serving more than 58,000 participants a year.

Saturday, July 26 | 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 27 | 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Monday, July 28 | 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, July 29 | 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Book Sale “Specials”
- This year, we will have nearly 500 “special” items—collectible books, a few maps, and 2 vintage 1930s posters. Those items are compiled in a catalog viewable on this site.

- Beginning July 7: Preview photos and descriptions of those offerings. Note: the quantity available will show “Out of Stock” prior to July 19 or once the item has been purchased.
- Wednesday, July 16 from 12:00-4:00 p.m.: Items will be available to view in person at Pequot Library.
- Saturday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m.: All special items will go on sale online through Friday, July 25 at 8:00 a.m..
- July 25-29: Special items will be available to purchase on site at Pequot Library during the Book Sale.
Please note:
- This is one of our largest sales EVER, with offerings of a record number of books, CD’s, DVD’s, and LP’s.
- Most books – including all books under our large tents – are $4.00 or less.
- For our discophiles, we have hundreds of vinyl records, including both 45’s and 33’s, mostly from the 1960s to 1990s.
- As always our selection of books for children of all ages is HUGE.
- We have a new category featuring books with decorative bindings. These books, including many leather bound, are great for display on shelves (even if you choose not to read them).
- Friday morning: Start your day with drip coffee by the cup available for purchase from the Sound Coffee Cart from 8:00-11:30 a.m.

Volunteers: Sign up here for shifts, both during the sale as well as setting up in the days before the sale.
Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express accepted. Scanners and other wireless devices are welcome in sales areas; stockpiling and “clearing” are not permitted.

Parking
Limited street parking is available around Pequot Library.
Additionally, Trinity Episcopal Church hosts its “Park for Food” drive during the first days of the Summer Book Sale. Park in their lot on the corner of Pequot Avenue and Center Street in exchange for canned food or cash.

Friday, July 26: 8:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m. (no parking after 2:00 p.m. due to a church event)
Saturday, July 27: 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 28: 11:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Book Sale Numbers
As a courtesy to shoppers who wish to be among the first to access the book sale on Friday morning, Pequot Library will issue numbered tickets for your position in line on Thursday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m. Book Sale numbers are for Friday morning ONLY. Separate tickets will be issued for the tents on the Great Lawn vs. the auditorium and Reading Room inside the library.
Shoppers with a numbered ticket will be first in line on Friday morning based on their number. All other shoppers shall form a line behind those with numbers. You do NOT need to have a numbered ticket to enter the book sale; typically, all shoppers are able to enter the sale within just a few minutes.
