Summer Baking Contest

Enter Pequot Library’s Summer Baking Contest for the chance to win tea for two at Gruel Britannia! Several cookbooks from our Special Collections feature in our summer exhibition. Katherine Pirrott’s Receipt Book, Containing Cookery, Physic, & Preserving (c. 1710) contains a recipe for Woodstreet Cake, a spiced dessert popular in Pirrott’s day. Try your hand at making this cake and drop it off at the Library Services Desk on Thursday, July 17. The baker of the winning cake will be contacted the following week.

We’re holding this contest in honor of our summer exhibition, Treasured Tomes: Rare Books and Their Collectors, on view from June 12 to September 20.
