Susan Hood is the award-winning author of many picture books for young readers, including ADA’S VIOLIN; SHAKING THINGS UP: 14 Young Women Who Changed the World; and TITAN AND THE WILD BOARS: The True Cave Rescue of the Thai Soccer Team. Susan is the recipient of the E.B. White Honor Award, the Christopher Award, the Américas Award, the International Latino Award, and the Bank Street Flora Steiglitz Straus Award, given to “a distinguished work of nonfiction that serves as an inspiration to young people.” In 2018, Susan published her first middle grade novel LIFEBOAT 12, which won the 2019 SCBWI Golden Kite Award for middle grade fiction and is now nominated for many state awards.
Before launching a full-time writing career, Susan worked as an editor and freelance writer for kids, parents, and teachers. She spent many happy years as the Children’s Content Director of Nick Jr. Magazine, working with the superstars of kidlit—Eric Carle, Andrea Davis Pinkney, John Scieszka, Maurice Sendak, Melissa Sweet, Rosemary Wells and more—to create original stories for the magazine. Before that, Susan was a children’s book editor at Sesame Workshop, and a children’s magazine editor at Scholastic and Instructor Magazine for early childhood educators. Learn more
Lizzy Rockwell is an illustrator whose artwork can be seen in picture books, magazines, games and on walls. She studied art and art history at Connecticut College, and drawing and illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
Lizzy is the illustrator of over 25 children’s books by a variety of authors including her mother, Anne Rockwell. She is the author/illustrator of Plants Feed Me, Good Enough to Eat: A Kid’s Guide to Food and Nutrition, Hello Baby! and The Busy Body Book: A Kid’s Guide to Fitness. Learn more
Abdul-Razak Zachariah is the author of The Night is Yours, an empowering picture book about a nighttime hide-and-seek game celebrates blackness and self-confidence.
