The Midwinter Book Sale is the little sister of the Library’s nationally known Summer Book Sale; it’s smaller but more intimate, with many treasures and bargains to be found.

Dates & Hours
Saturday, February 15, 2020 | 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 16, 2020 | 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
(Snow Day: If Ol’ Man Winter causes the Library to be closed on Saturday or Sunday, the Book Sale will resume on Monday, February 17, 2020.)

Admission is free. All Sale proceeds support Pequot Library’s annual programs for adults and children, serving more than 60,000 participants a year.

Book Sales also provide affordable books, CDs, DVDs, and LPs for the town; provide materials for underserved neighboring public school systems; and provide great volunteer opportunities for the community!

Mark Naftalin & Friends: Live music from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. each day
Mark Naftalin & Friends will host a live musical broadcast as a long-time, favorite feature of the Library’s Midwinter Book Sale. The broadcast will air on Bridgeport’s WPKN (89.5 FM), and stream at wpkn.org.

Led by the renowned blues pianist and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Mark Naftalin, the Friends are an ensemble of (mostly) Fairfield County-based blues and jazz musicians. This year’s broadcasts, their fourteenth annual appearance at the Book Sale, will feature:
– singing guitarists Paul Gabriel (of Blue In The Face and the Paul Gabriel Blues Band) and J.D. Seem (of the Blue-Tones);
– singing harmonicists Manny Foglio (of the Mojomatics) and Mark Zaretsky (of the Cobalt Rhythm Kings);
– from Otis & The Hurricanes, guitarist-vocalist Chris “Otis” Cross and pianist-accordionist-vocalist Smokin’ Joe Najmy;
– sax master Crispin Cioe (of the Uptown Horns);
– guitarist-vocalist-harmonicist Daniel J (“The Modern Bluesman”); and
– frottoirist-percussionist-vocalist Peter Menta, a.k.a. Washboard Slim (of Washboard Slim & the Bluelights).
Joining Naftalin in the rhythm section will be:
– bassists David Anastasia and David “Bobo” Lavorgna on upright bass;
– and, on drums and percussion, Matt Moadel and Barry Urich.
