Support local young artists! We are proud to partner with Music for Youth to offer world-class musicians a stage to showcase their talents to the their community. Each of the top three finalists of the Marianne Liberatore Scholarship Competition is an emerging, extraordinary talent who is either attending a music conservatory program or in the process of applying. Artists for the 2019 concert series were selected from the finalists.
Free and open to the public. No registration required. Light refreshments served.
About the Artist
Joshua Hyuk Peiffer is sixteen years old and a junior at Fairfield College Preparatory School. He has been studying flute for eight years with Jenny Li of Southbury. In the summer of 2018 he attended the Music Horizons Program (Summer Classical Music Program) at the Eastman School of Music. He placed third in the 2018 Marianne Liberatore Memorial Instrumental Competition. During the 2018-2019 academic year he was the Principal Flutist in both the Principal and Chamber Orchestras of the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras. As a finalist in the GBYO 2019 Concerto Competition, he performed the first movement of Mozart’s Concerto for Flute with their Chamber Orchestra. This year he was a member of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony “Side By Side” mentoring Program which culminated in the orchestra’s spring concert. For six weeks in the summer of 2019 he attended the Interlochen Center for the Arts Orchestral Program where he had various musical experiences ranging from a wind ensemble to a flute choir to a full orchestra. He was a finalist in their Concerto Competition and while there he was accepted in to a Master Class with Amanda Blaikie, flutist in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He has also participated in a Master Class with flutist Keith Underwood. During the 2019-2020 academic year Joshua will travel to Manhattan every Saturday to participate in the Mannes Prep Pre-College Program. His goal is to attend a music conservatory for flute performance and pursue a professional music career.
