Once holds are placed and requested items are available, Library staff will contact patrons to schedule a contact-free pickup at Pequot Library’s front steps. Fairfield Main Library and the Woods Branch are also offering curbside pickup at their locations. Click here for more information.
Pequot Library has taken many steps to respect the health of our community as we gradually reopen our doors. We will always place the safety of our community first, acting in accordance with state and federal recommendations as well as those from the CDC and WHO.
Placing Holds and Checking Out Items
Once holds are placed and requested items are available, Library staff will contact patrons to schedule a contact-free pickup at Pequot Library’s front steps. In the interest of limited time and adhering to strict safety precautions, checked out items will only be available for pickup during individual scheduled appointments. The Library will be open for curbside pickup only, until further notice.
Currently, there is a check out limit of 5 items per card, though available hold items for all members of a household can be picked up at the same time. Please let staff know at the time of scheduling if you will be picking up for family members as well. Items will be checked out to each patron’s card just prior to their scheduled curbside pickup appointment. Items from Fairfield Public Library and the Woods Branch can be scheduled for pickup at Pequot Library, and vice versa.
Returning Library Items
Our Book Drop is open 24/7. Overdue book fines are suspended, though we are encouraging all patrons to return the items you have had at home during the months we have been closed. Please note, these items must be brought back in order for you to continue placing holds on materials. If these items are not returned, your account will unfortunately be blocked by our computer system. Materials can also be returned to the drop slots at the Fairfield Public Library and the Woods Branch Library.
When returning materials, do not clean or disinfect them, as such action could damage materials. All materials should be returned via library book drops.
Pequot Library has developed strict safety procedures, including a quarantine period for all returned circulating library materials. This will likely mean a delay in the hold turnaround time, but our community’s health and safety are our first priorities, so we greatly thank you for your patience. Pequot Library’s curbside pickup procedures are based on the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
