This lecture is second of the Backyard Wildlife: A Four-Part Lecture Series with Master Naturalist and Wildlife Conservationist Dabney Bowen.
Why are spiders, snakes, rats, and bats considered so scary? Will a mother bird abandon a chick that is handled by a human? Master naturalist and wildlife conservationist Dabney Bowen discusses irrational fears, common myths, and other misconceptions about local wildlife.
Dabney Bowen is the face behind Call of the Wild CT, a conservation organization dedicated to educating citizens throughout Fairfield County about the essential value of local wildlife. In coordination with Connecticut Audubon, Mill River Wetland Committee, Grace Farms Nature Initiative, Aspetuck Land Trust, and other local conservation organizations, Bowen engages students, residents, civic groups, and public officials in nature-based conservation programming and advocacy. Bowen has made her home in Fairfield for over fourteen years with her husband Michael, two daughters, and three beloved dogs.
