Get ready for an epic musical adventure! Discover the planets, celebrate the moon landing, and explore the wonder of the universe during a new, free, family concert series presented by Pequot Library, Music for Youth, and the Greater Bridgeport Symphony. Learn more about the symphony’s signature pieces with conductor Eric Jacobsen and the symphony’s featured soloists. Registration required.

Series dates:
September 22: A Space Odyssey Begins
Discover Richard Strauss’ Sunrise and Also sprach Zarathustra, Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 4, and Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending. Violinst Colin Jacobsen performs Mozart’s “Turkish” Violin Concerto No. 5.

November 10: Passage 18
Discover composer Mason Bates’ Passage 18, a musical rendition of the speeches of JFK and others, recalling in vivid detail the excitement of the early space program.

March 16: Moon Struck
Hear selections from Claude Debussy’s Blue Danube and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.

April 13: Across the Universe
Close the season with The Planets by Holtz.
