Art of the Book and the History of Printing Collection
From Saint Gregory’s letters of the 12th century, the oldest
book in the Library, to the Kelmscott Press of the late 19th century,
this collection chronicles the history of printing throughout
the centuries. Included in the collection are illuminated manuscripts,
books printed by the private presses: Kelmscott,
Doves, and Golden Cockerell,
and books featuring wood engravings by Edward Burne-Jones, Eric
Gill, Clare Leighton and Barry
Moser.
