New Rooms for Old Treasures Opening Reception

Tuesday, May 22, 2018, 06:00pm

Dillon-front-coverOpening and Tour of
New Rooms for Old Treasures

Rare Gems in Reimagined Spaces

Board President Alison Barry and Executive Director Stephanie J. Coakley welcome you to share this moment of pride and be among the first to experience:

~ The May Room: A reimagined Reading Room with visible display cabinets featuring a rotating selection of our finest items. Open to all, located on the ground level.

~ The Dillon Reading Room: A glass-encased viewing and research area for students, scholars, and the public by appointment, in a portion of the upper stacks.

~ The first and only public tour of our newly-constructed, climate-controlled collections storage room, located on the lower level.

~ The launch of the long-awaited, online searchable catalog of historical and literary treasures.

These significant achievements, which have been underway since 2016, preserve Pequot Library's Special Collections of rare books, manuscripts, and archives while making these irreplaceable items accessible to all.

This special project has been made possible by a generous restricted gift from The Dillon Fund and the Constance C. Baker Rare Book Fund.

Wine and light hors d'oeuvres prepared by Kitchen Capers.
