About Alex Beyer:
Heralded as a “sensation” with “formidable technique” by the Hartford Courant, Fairfield Warde High School graduate, Alex Beyer has acquired an impressive array of prestigious concert appearances nationally and internationally. Alex’s recent debut with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony was deemed “one of the most spectacular debuts with the symphony” by the Connecticut Post. He has been a guest soloist with the New Haven, Hartford, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Thayer and Waterbury Symphony Orchestras. He is a 2012 US Presidential Scholar in the Arts.
Alex was the recipient of the Stamford Symphony Jeniam Foundation Instrumental Scholarship Award for 2012. Other first prize awards came in the Renee Fischer Competition and MTNA (Music Teacher’s National Association) State and Regional Competitions. He was a 2011 MTNA finalist in the Senior Piano division and a finalist in the 2010 Milwaukee PianoArts competition.
Alex began his music studies at the age of four, and he has been studying with Yoshie Akimoto for the past six years. He also studies with Dr. Matti Raekallio.
In the summer months he has been frequent performer at the Killington Music Festival and was the first 17-year-old Artist in Residence in the 27-year history of the Festival. He has attended the Vianden Music Festival in Luxembourg, and the Saarburg Festival in Germany. This summer he has been given a Fellowship to attend the 2012 Mary Foulger Summer Institute.
Alex has performed and directed many benefit concerts including those for: Project Learn, Music For Youth, Mercy Learning Center, and KEYS (Kids Empowered by Your Support). |
