Saturday, April 02, 2011, 03:00pm - 06:00pm

"With Best Regards:" the George P. Brett, Jr. Gone With the Wind CollectionMMs_GWTW_bookcover_compressed

Join us as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the publication of Gone With the Wind.  Our exhibit will run through May 7. It will culminate in the return of the manuscript to Atlanta for a loan exhibit at the Atlanta History Center for their exhibit June 4 - September 2011.

This exhibit of material from the George P. Brett, Jr. collection and a lecture by Ellen F. Brown and John Wiley, Jr., authors of the book Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind: a Bestseller's Odyssey from Atlanta to Hollywood on April 2 highlights treasures from Pequot Library's internationally important Special Collections.

Besides being a past-president of Pequot Library's Board of Trustees, George Brett was head of Macmillan publishing and worked closely with Margaret Mitchell during the publication of Gone With the Wind. He donated his collection of foreign language editions, many signed by Margaret Mitchell, along with a signed portrait of Margaret Mitchell, and the original typescript of the last four chapters of the novel to Pequot Library during the 1950's. All of this material will be on display during this month-long exhibit
