The John Thorne Perkin Gallery
The Perkin Gallery was created during the restoration of Pequot’s original building in 2005/2006. The founding of the Gallery was made possible by a donation from the Perkin Fund in memory of John Thorne Perkin.

The Perkin Gallery is a wonderful space for exhibiting art. It has been filled with the work of local Perkin_Gallery__Display__Case_-_May_2008_003_Cropped_edited_resized_for_websitephotographers, printmakers, and painters as well as with Library-sponsored exhibits. These range from an exhibit commemorating Abraham Lincoln’s 200th Birthday to the History of the Book Sale to images celebrating the book, Into the Beautiful North, Fairfield’s One Book, One Town selection for March of 2010.

The Gallery also houses a display case which is a showcase for the Library’s Rare Books. We match the books on display with the theme of the current art exhibit, bringing art and literature together.

The accessibility of the Gallery is also one of its strengths. People passing through the Library can’t help but stop and look at the art. And the children love it too!
