Thanks to the hard work of our Book Sale Committee, the Pricers and Sorters, all the volunteers who helped at the Sale, and our staff, the 47th Annual Book Sale at Pequot Library was a huge success, and a whole lot of fun.
With big crowds and over 140,000 books, the sale more than met its fundraising goal which is an essential part of Pequot Library’s annual operating budget. These funds are used to provide the books, other media, and the many warm, welcoming library services that distinguish the Library.
I want to personally thank all the members of our Book Sale Committee for their hard work, dedication and commitment: Chair John Hartwell, Barbara Young, Doug Fried, Llew Almeida, Linda Teja, Ruth Anne Baumgartner, Ed Canning, Ruth Frantz, Paige Gillies, Colin Green, Cindi Kruth, Peg North, Betty Oderwald, and Stephanie Weaver.
There are over 200 additional volunteers who help out in one way or another before, during and after the sale. They all deserve our heartfelt thanks. In addition there are many who make extraordinary contributions, either by serving as “pricers and sorters” throughout the year, or putting in a Herculean effort at some point along the way.

To all of the staff at the Library who have worked so hard since May, thank you for your service above and beyond the call of duty. Bob Repko led the way, along with Linda McCormack, Robyn Filippone, Elizabeth Hanusovsky, Robin Jerrild, Vicki Konopka, Susan Ei, Leslie Voonasis, and Danielle Carriera. Andrew Goebel, his brother Christopher and his friend Joe Faiella did most of the heavy lifting and did it cheerfully. We couldn’t have done it without you. I actually worked pretty hard myself.
Wow. What a fantastic list of names and what an amazing effort. The danger in naming names is that you will leave some one out. If I have, let me know and I will correct it when the full list gets published in our Annual Report. The support from all these people and all the rest of those who volunteer for the Library and the community it serves is truly wonderful, and we all appreciate it so much.
